Gene Takle Print E-mail
takle.jpgGene Takle is the Faculty Director of the University Honors Program. He works with the administrative director to oversee the program and develop new initiatives to expand opportunities for Honors students, particularly beyond the Freshman year. After receiving a BA degree in math and physics from Luther College, Gene came to ISU where he earned a PHD in physics and then stayed on for a joint faculty appointment in the departments of Agronomy and Geological and Atmospheric Sciences. His research spans topics from regional climate change to turbulent flow through vegetation to roadway weather, and he is associate editor of two international journals relating to these fields. He spends his spare time restoring a barn and keeping his old British sports cars running.
