Admission Requirements

Admission requirements for the Construction Engineering and Management program are an undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program and a graduation rank in the upper half of the applicant’s undergraduate class.  Alternatively, applicants may enter the program by taking prerequisite courses.  These include most of the courses that would be found in a typical construction engineering degree or civil engineering degree with a construction emphasis.  Students can enter the graduate program while they are satisfying prerequisite requirements.  Admission requirements and prerequisites can be relaxed for construction professionals with engineering degrees and five or more years of experience.  Such modifications will be made on a case-by-case basis by the admissions committee.

Application and admission procedures can be found on the CCEE department website and on the Graduate College websiteStudents may take up to 9 credits as a non-degree seeking student, so it is possible to begin your studies before formal admittance into the program.

Degree Requirements

The program requires 30 semester credit hours of graduate level courses, six of which may be approved transfer credits.  The program culminates with a project that may be arranged to develop a process improvement in cooperation with your employer or to research a topic that is of mutual interest with your employer.  Students may complete their degree in approximately two years by taking 6 credits each fall and spring semester and 3 credits each summer.

Students can choose from courses in construction engineering and management areas, related engineering areas, and a variety of programs throughout the university such as industrial engineering, management, finance, marketing, accounting, architecture, computer science, and statistics.  Information on courses and degree requirements can be found on the CCEE department website .
