The distance education fee is the fee assessed by Engineering Distance Education to all students taking off-campus courses. This fee helps cover not only the delivery of the course to off-campus students, but also to maintain our three high tech classrooms, remote classrooms and our portable capture systems; to purchase the equipment needed to keep us on the cutting edge of technology; to employ technicians and operators to run the equipment for the production of each course; to provide the administration of the programs; and to provide prompt and personal support to our off-campus students.
Computer Fee: Fall 2008/Spring 2009
Iowa State will assess off-campus students a computer fee. The fee is in addition to tuition and the distance education fee. The computer fee is based on the number of credit hours the student is taking.

Fee Assessment Dates
Payment Plans
At this time Iowa State is unable to accept credit cards for the payment of tuition and fees. Students may pay their bills by check or through direct debit in AccessPlus . Students must access their billing information online in AccessPlus as Iowa State does not send paper bills.
Traditional
Students pay each semester's charges in full when due. If any of the payment dates fall on a holiday, Saturday or Sunday, the payment is due the next day the university is open for business.
- Fall semester bills are due August 20th.
- Spring semester bills are due January 20th.
- Summer session bills are due May 20th.
Deferred
For a $20 administrative fee students may pay their university bill in three monthly installments each academic term by selecting the deferred payment option in AccessPlus. Payments for fall semester will be due August 20, September 20, and October 20. Payments for spring semester will be due January 20, February 20, and March 20. Summer fees will be due May 20, June 20, and July 20. Again, if any of the payment dates fall on a holiday, Saturday or Sunday, the payment is due the next day the university is open for business.
Employer Reimbursement Deferred Billing
With a completed certification form students may defer all allowable charges to become due 30 days after the official university date final grades are due on WebCT and AccessPlus.* There is a $35 per semester fee for this option.
*Please note that the bill will be due 30 days after the official university date final grades are due on WebCT and AccessPlus (found in the semester deadlines/details calendar ) and not the day on which your grade is posted in AccessPlus. While many of our instructors give off-campus more time (beyond the grade deadline) to finish their coursework, this means that your grade will not be posted in AccessPlus until a later date. If your employer requires a grade to be submitted before reimbursement, and you will use the reimbursement money to pay your university bill; it is strongly encouraged you finish all coursework at the same time as the on-campus students. If you are not able to pay your bill by the due date, finance charges will begin to accure.
Bill to employer
Through AccessPlus students may request to have a copy of their bill sent directly to their employer. Select the Billing Info Release option under Account/Ubill.
